Private Market Tour, Mediterranean Cooking Class and Meal in a Local Madrid Home. Meet your host Luis at the Mercado de la Paz, a local covered food market in the upscale Salamanca neighborhood. The market is filled with stalls selling meat and produce, restaurants, and bars that locals frequent. You will see high-quality, local and seasonal Spanish produce, and learn how to choose the freshest ingredients, some of which you will purchase for your cooking class.
After the tour, join Luis in his kitchen to learn to cook an authentic Mediterranean meal from recipes he has added to his repertoire over the years. Your hands-on cooking class will last about two hours, and you will cook two to three dishes from scratch including a tapas, main course and dessert. Enjoy learning about techniques involved in making dishes such as an oxtail stew, salt-crusted bass in the oven or pisto (roasted vegetables) before you sit down at the table to share the meal you helped prepare with Luis.
